looking ahead || 2016

hi there two thousand and sixteen. you look promising. I can't wait to get to know you.

actually, I can. I need a few days to sleep the holiday stress away. don't judge.

but seriously--I hope to do a lot in your shiny new 366 days. you hold a lot of potential, and that both excites me and scares me. who knows what could happen?

you do, I guess.

wait how does that even work...

but what do I want to happen? what are my goals for this year? what are my plans? I went into 2015 without a plan. I didn't have a care in the world and I didn't think I needed a plan. fast forward a year of pain and growth and here you have me: a girl craving a plan. so here goes.

of course, we know that nothing ever goes to plan. still...it's nice to dream, you know?

...get a job
...do well in my online classes--I CAN'T WAIT
...start writing again
...blog at least twice a week--I PROMISE
...stand on my own two feet again
...stay somewhat healthy
...see my out of town friends more often
...read 100 books at least
...review at least half of those books
...continue my Korean lessons
...seriously guys nag me about this because I've been studying for two years now and I'm so not where I want to be. I NEED HELP
...go to a concert or two
...go on a roadtrip? who's up for that?
...eat somewhat normal food again? right now I'd settle for a bowl of rice a month maybe. or some scrambled eggs.
...continue cooking and experimenting with that
...maybe start a food blog/tumblr? I've wanted to do that for a while but I haven't seriously sat down and done it
...try not to get emotionally invested in any other kpop groups because VIXX and Bangtan is enough
...finish editing the great ones and the general. seriously. someone nag me about this too.
...start playing the piano again
...put a few of my plot bunnies on the page
...smile more
...read the Bible in a year again
...stay on track
...trust more. fear less
...stop buying notebooks. stop. you have too many. it's getting to be a problem
...continue forming your room to be more of a mini apartment
...watch less tv. go outside more. visit my friends more.
...and most importantly: love God more

wow. that's a lot of things. still, 2015 was a slow, kinda boring year for me (as in I didn't get to do a lot of what I planned). I'm hoping 2016 will be different and better.

and that I'll be able to eat rice again.

that would be nice. ^_^

welcome to 2016, everybody!!

  2. Good list, concerts and food. I can get behind that, I think I need to add 'get emotionally invested with a K-pop group' to my list. :)

    1. do it! I'm always excited about people getting emotionally invested in kpop. it makes me happy when I get to share the thing that makes me happy. let me know if you do end up getting into a group or if you want advice on where to start! :)

  3. That's a great list! A lot of it is on my list, too, because they're all important things. *nods wisely* I can't wait to see what sort of things you'll post this upcoming year!

    1. I honestly don't know. a job is super daunting, especially with my health issues. probably a serious babysitting job or something I can do at home for now at least. I'd love to work at my library, but they only take volunteers (which I hope to do as well). How about you?

  5. These sound like some good goals! I'm also looking for a job this year. XD I plan to do a lot of traveling to also see people out of town and go writers conferences and I need the dough haha. Best wishes for this year!

  6. An excellent list. I agree with almost everything. (I'm not going to start a food blog or learn Korean, but more or less everything else sounds good ... Obviously I'm not going to edit great ones either, but ... Emily, you've stopped making sense.)

    (Don't mind me.)

I listened to Twenty One Pilots song just there, it was good!
